Toronto Northern Lights
Formed in 1998, this talented group of singers won the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s Radio Competition for Amateur Choirs in 2000. TNL has represented Ontario 13 times at the Barbershop Harmony Society’s International Chorus Competition, winning medals 12 times and earning consecutive silvers from 2001 to 2005. Finally in 2013, in front of a hometown crowd at the Air Canada Centre, they won the International Chorus Competition’s gold medal.
TNL has performed in Germany, England, Holland, Beijing, China at the Forbidden City Opera House and on the Great Wall. TNL has just returned from their “Gold Medal Tour” of Europe that saw them performing in England, Germany and Sweden.
The chorus attracts members of all ages, backgrounds and employment. Although Toronto based, members also come from Montreal, Ottawa, London, Buffalo and Detroit! Meaning that some of their members travel up to 5 hours one way just to sing with them!
TNL’s repertoire ranges from Barbershop to Broadway, Vocal Jazz to Doo-Wop and Gershwin to the Beatles. They have five CDs, including their most recent, “Dare To Dream” and a DVD, “Welcome to the Sandbox”.
